As we get ready to begin a new school year, Top Scholars Tutoring is pleased to offer, “The Grammar Workshop” – a 5-week writing workshop focusing on punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure.
This online workshop will be available to students in grades 4 – 8. We’ve created an engaging, interactive approach in order to provide a comprehensive look at some of the most important, yet, overlooked rules of grammar.
Our aim is to improve your child’s confidence, enhance their writing, and help them do their best this year!

WORKSHOP 1 - Saturday, September 18, 2021
Capitalization and Punctuation
In this workshop, students will learn the rules of capitalization and some punctuation marks including end punctuation (./?/!), commas, and quotation marks. Special attention will also be paid to conjunctions and parallel structure. Students will be able to demonstrate their learning with an online and take-home activity.
WORKSHOP 2 - Saturday, September 25, 2021
Nouns, Verbs, and Adjectives
In workshop 2, students will understand the use and purpose of nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Adverbs will also be discussed. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their learning with an interactive activity.
WORKSHOP 3 - Saturday, October 2, 2021
Possessive Nouns and Pronouns
Students build on their knowledge of the previous workshop and will learn how to punctuate possessive nouns and pronouns. Special attention will be paid to the use of the apostrophe.
WORKSHOP 4 - Saturday, October 9, 2021
Subject and Predicate
Workshop 4 focuses on syntax as students learn sentence structure. Special attention will be paid to the difference between subject and predicate. Students will demonstrate their learning in an online and take-home activity.
WORKSHOP 5 - Saturday, October 16, 2021
Independent and Dependent Clauses
The 5th and final workshop continues building on syntax as students learn about dependent and independent clauses and how they are used in a sentence. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in an interactive group activity
